Ion Polarization System

IPS protects your pipes and all products through which water flows from limescale accumulation and keeps them in efficient operation. It does not require power, batteries, chemicals or filter replacement.

IPS uses a patented Turbulent Galvanic Polarization (TGP®) electrode system to disrupt the formation of scale crystals from water heaters, pipes, faucets, showers and all devices through which water flows, with a certified efficiency of up to 76%. In comparative tests, IPS was four times more effective than leading electronic descaling devices. IPS is easy to install and does not require maintenance, the expected service life is 10 years.

Limescale issues

Water meeting high quality requirements for drinking, cooking and washing is one that has enough minerals. However, the amount of minerals also has an impact on the higher hardness of the water, which brings with it the deposition of scale in the drinking and service water distribution systems as well as in the end devices and accessories.

Limescale is a solid coating that is deposited on the walls of pipes, equipment and containers in which water is conducted and stored. The incidence of scale increases when using medium, hard and very hard water. The basic component of the scale is usually calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The formation of scale increases even more with increasing water temperature.  The hardness of the water depends on the sum of the minerals contained. By heating, minerals are excreted above the state of saturation. Water dissolves CO2 and minerals cease to be soluble. The result is the so-called boiler stone.

Effect of scale formation on consumption

In a water heating device, limescale grows exponentially with increasing temperature. With an annual flow of water with an average hardness supplied by water companies, limescale grows to about 1 mm per year. At the same time, a 3 mm layer of scale reduces the efficiency of thermal devices by 20%. An equally thick layer on the spiral of an electric boiler needs up to a fifth more electricity to heat water.

If the daily consumption is 80 liters, the electricity needed to heat the water in an 80-liter boiler is 2 kWh, and the heating time is 2.5 hours. Daily electricity consumption is 5 kWh, provided that the spirals are not covered with limestone. This means that the monthly electricity consumption is 150 kW. However, if there is a 3 mm layer of scale on the heating spiral, the monthly consumption will increase to 180 kW.

How can I influence limescale formation?

What is the essence of physical water treatment?

The essence can be simply explained as the deformation of the crystalline lattice of calcium carbonate CaCO3. Salts are present in water in the form of both positive and negative ions. Thus, they can be affected by force fields. Galvanic or magnetic. And such action can distort the crystalline grid. Minerals treated in this way lose the ability to form scale.

FAQ

What is the difference between BlueLine and RedLine?

Both work the same. Unlike RedLine, BlueLine has silver electrodes inside that provide an antibacterial effect (reducing e-coli) by up to 40%.

How can I measure the effectiveness of IPS?

Because IPS doesn't make water softer and adds anything to the water, it's very hard to measure anything. There are special official tests where you measure the amount of scale on heating elements from water heaters and compare it with untreated water. These tests last at least 3 weeks. We have done them many times and IAPMO tests have proven that our products are up to 76% effective.

How long does calcite turn into aragonite?

Very much depends on the type of water, but in general it takes 2-3 days.

If I install two IPS on one pipe, will the effect increase?

Yes, the effect will be better. We know from our tests that the efficiency will increase by a few percent, so it will be around 80-90%.

What is the IPS guarantee?

This varies greatly from country to country. For example, our customer in the USA provides a 12-year warranty. We are sure that our IPS will work without maintenance for at least 10 years.

Which filter should be used together with IPS?

Just a standard particulate removal filter with a cartridge of 50 to 10 microns.

How does IPS work?

IPS effectively prevents solid sediment formation and corrosion in cold and hot water distribution systems. It is a flow body with internally located turbine-shaped electrodes made of two different electrically conductive materials. The design of the electrodes is protected by a patent (TGP® – Turbulent Galvanic Polarization) and creates a swirling flow of water that causes a change in the structure of the minerals.
